Saarang is the culfest of IIT Madras. It is held annually towards the
end of January. The culfest was known as Mardi Gras until 1996, when
it was renamed Saarang. From the famous cultural mélange that was
Mardi Gras, Saarang has evolved into a gigantic melting pot of various
traditions.
Simply put, Saarang consists of professional shows, choreo night,
western band contests, literary contests, dramatics, fine art
competitions, quizzes, workshops, lectures, lot of food, fun and
masti. But just saying it doesn't quite convey the message. As they
say it here, you will have to 'Live a Saarang'. From professional
shows that have gone on to become unforgettable moments in history, to
quizzes that have set benchmarks in quality, to lectures that have
left lasting impressions, visitors have always been infused with
emotions and mellifluous joys by the IITM way of life- the Saarang
Way.
The Saarang blog is a Saarang PR exercise. That might make this blog
sound like a dogbert style approach to PR, our attempt to manipulate
Saarang's Soccer moms and Nascar dads! However you might be led to
believe, there are no pointy haired bosses. The Saarang blog is just
an attempt to build a relationship between Saarang and the Saarang's
key audience. Leak a few well kept secrets maybe, and keep you
informed of what is in store.
If you have been to Saarang earlier, read and nod in nostalgia. If you
haven't been to Saarang earlier we hope that you are tempted to come.
PR Team, Saarang 2006, 24-29 January
